A NEW £800,000 physiotherapy unit has been officially opened at Teignmouth Community Hospital.
The newly built extension which received a £600,000 donation from the Teignmouth Hospital League of Friends will benefit patients accessing physiotherapy, occupational therapy and spinal services.
The unit consists of a number of purpose-built therapy rooms, with specialist equipment, a gym area specially designed for patient assessments, as well as office accommodation for physiotherapy and occupational therapy staff.
The new unit will be named the Jenifer Hammond Unit after a former physiotherapist who worked for more than 30 years in Teignmouth Hospital.
Tracey Mckenzie, Matron at Teignmouth Community Hospital said: “The new extension looks absolutely fantastic and we are delighted that our patients can now benefit from the improvements. The extension is bright and airy with a new comfortable waiting area for patients and modernised clinical areas.
“The new purpose built surroundings will enable us to provide high quality care, in a modern and fully equipped environment.”
